Amy Kopkin and our Youth Programs Division

Amy has a Masters degree in Recreation Resources and Environmental Education from Colorado State University. She has a wide range of experiences sharing the outdoors with Jewish youth and young adults.

Amy most recently comes to us from the American Hebrew Academy, a Jewish boarding school for high school students, where she served as the Director of Campus Life. For nine summers, Amy has worked at various Jewish summer camps around the country as a Program director, Trip Director, Environmental Educator and counselor leading services, backpacking trips, canoe trips, and a variety of other programs.

Her international experience includes working as a counselor for the Alexander Muss High School in Israel, and this past summer, she traveled around the world scouting future trips for Adventure Rabbi. Maybe in a few years, we will have a trip to New Zealand or South Africa! Click here to have Amy contact you>>

Family Hikes:

These interactive trail experiences are led by our Youth Program Director. They are designed for children ages 5-10 and their families. We can also custom design a hike to fit the needs of a particular group of families.

The adventures are less technically difficult as we choose to focus on experiencing the outdoors through all of our senses with a variety of games and discussions along the trail.

In the winter, family hikes turn into family snowshoe adventures where we focus on learning about nature and experiencing God with the world covered in snow.

Again, the highlight of the trip is parents and children learning together and the trails are not technically difficult. Click here to have Amy contact you>>

Jewish Day School Extended Adventures:

For Jewish Day Schools, the Adventure Rabbi’s Youth Division leads four day, three night Jewish Environmental Experiential trips. Your school chooses a location nearby - a camp or other facility - and we provide a program exploring relationships with God and ourselves through connection to the outdoor world. Programs can be developed to fit existing curriculum and past events have included hiking services, natural arts and crafts projects such as making paper and making natural lip balm, orienteering treasure hunts, “visits” from our matriarchs and patriarchs and much more. Youth Group Adventures:

These custom-made programs add spice and an outdoor component to your yearly calendar. We lead outdoor hiking services, hiking Havdallah programs, Eco-Shabbat experiences, and much more.

Our Youth Program director can work with your student leadership to create a program that meets the needs of your youth group through ritual observance, community service or just finding new ways to look at Judaism through a natural lens.

College Programs and Trips:

Our Youth Division includes young adults too through a variety of program and extended trip offerings. Your Hillel or Jewish Student organization can request a range of programs from progressive hiking services to Eco-Shabbaton to an extended-day backpacking trip during winter or spring break. We can also bring the outdoors indoors through programs such as making natural Havdallah torches. All of the programs offered through our youth division allow you to experience your relationship with Judaism through a natural lens. Click here to have Amy contact you>>
