Dear Friend,

The tulips are starting to push their way through the snow; spring will soon be here.

March is a great month for Adventure Rabbi trips. We have our last service on skis for the season at Copper this Saturday March 13. More info>> On March 24, ten adventurous women will be joining me for a four day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon! Four days of red canyon walls and the rushing sound of the Colorado River -- I can hardly wait!

Looking ahead to April, we will be running both our regular adult hiking trips and adding hikes for families with children. As always, second Saturday of the month- so save the dates. If you're curious about who comes on Adventure Rabbi programs, read this month's article. Click here>>

Hope to see you on the trail!

L' Shalom,

Jamie

Who Comes on Adventure Rabbi Trips?

Multiple Choice Quiz:
Adventure Rabbi participants are mostly:
A. Children
B. Singles
C. Adults in their 40s and 50s
D. All of the above, plus some!

When Adventure Rabbi, Inc. starting running trips over two years ago, the participants were primarily in their 40s and 50s. There were couples, singles, people with kids at home and empty nesters.

Soon word spread: it is possible to go to a Shabbat service without giving up a day of hiking or skiing! 20s and 30s started to join us.

Congregation Har HaShem greatly aided us in this effort. Tired of the grumbling, “There’s nothing for 20s/30s in Boulder,” Har HaShem commited to sponsor Adventure Rabbi hikes for 20s/30s, April through November and an overnight in Estes Park in April.

Then, more confusion began. More and more people began to say: “I’d love to come on your trips, but I’m too old!” or “but I’m not single.”

The answer: We offer trips for many different age groups. Although we don’t offer singles trips, many singles do come on our trips. In fact, many singles find our trips to be a more relaxed way to meet a partner than specific singles events.

Who comes on our trips?

Our Services on Skis are great for all ages, kids and adults, and all ski abilities.

Our Shabbat hikes resume in April. The afternoon trip will be our regular adult hike. This year we add a morning hike, which will be geared for families with children.

What else do we offer youth? Synagogues hire Rabbi K. to run retreats and Shabbat hikes for their b’nai mitzvah classes and youth groups. If your synagogue has not yet done so, email Rabbi K. or call 303.443.2642 for more information.

The answer to the quiz is D. Whatever age you are, we hope Adventure Rabbi trips offer something for you, or will soon!
