Kol Nidre Service: |
Whether you go to Kol Nidre because your mother asked
you to or because that is what Jews do or to talk to God or
because it is a good place to meet single men/women, we want
to welcome you "home" to your Jewish family. Come
alone or with a friend. We'll be glad to see you.
Building
on previous years incredible experiences of community and
inspiration, we are once again offering our Kol Nidre service
in Boulder. The service includes traditional elements presented
in the "Adventure Rabbi" style.
For example,
the service will include some, but not all of, the traditional
prayers. Rather than recite all the prayers, we attempt to
focus more deeply on the ones we do say.
A spiritual pinnacle of the night is chanting Kol Nidre outside
beneath the stars. We can't promise
that a fox will run through the center of the circle in the
middle of chanting Kol Nidre like it did our first year, but
it certainly was amazing!!
There will also be time for small group discussions. Also,
this is one of the only nights a year in which Rabbi Korngold
delivers a full sermon, giving us plenty to think and talk
about.
If you
do not wish to handle money on Yom Kippur, please register
in advance. If you would prefer to pay at the door, please
arrive early so as not to miss the opening of the service.

Who:
All ages of adults. Post B'nai Mitzvah age and older welcome when accompanied
by parent.
Program
Description:
Our time together will include select, primary prayers
such as Al Chet, Tavo, and Avienu Malkeinu and chanting of
Torah. But the heart of our time together will be group discussion,
individual and small group work, gentle yoga and strolls on
the nearby trails in South Boulder.
We use
our time together to sincerely face the questions Yom Kippur
asks of us: Who was I this year? Was I the person I most want
to be? How will I be in the year to come? Rather than sitting
in synagogue listening to someone preach, we reflect, discuss,
journal, and when appropriate, share our hopes and intentions
for the year ahead.
Past participants
have called this the pinnacle Adventure Rabbi experience,
because it combines Jewish practice and outdoor experience
in a deeply transformative way.
Dress:
Please dress comfortably and wear shoes you can walk and stretch
in. Some people like to wear white on Yom Kippur as a symbol
of purity. No ties or dress shoes needed.
Pack:
Please bring a yoga mat, sunhat, sunglasses and raincoat.
Electronics:
Please leave your electronics, including your cell phones at home.
Sermon
and Prayerbook: Please be aware that there will not
be a traditional service with prayer books, sermon and extended
Torah reading. If you have a particular prayer that you would
like us to say, please tell me and I will try to include it.
Sign-up:
Registration for this event will be limited to 60
people. The program is free for members.
For all others the fee is $125 until Sept 7. After Sept 7, +$25. Register
