Hebrew Tutor Janiece Gratch - Adventure Rabbi

Hebrew Tutor Janiece Gratch

Kids and their parents love Janiece Gratch!

Janiece is currently on family leave. We hope she will be back soon!

Janiece tutors the majority of students in our programs. She brings years of experience to the task and we love is that even years after their ceremonies students speak excitedly about how fun and achievable Janiece made the process.

Janiece Gratch lives in Denver Colorado and works with students all over the world via Zoom or Facetime. She knows how to connect!

Janiece has worked in the field of Jewish education for the last twenty-five years. Janiece received her Master of Science in Jewish Education from Spertus College of Jewish Studies in Chicago. She has worked with students of all ages, from toddlers to college students, but loves middle schoolers most of all.

She began her career as a Judaic Studies teacher and later became the director of Solomon Schechter Academy in Oklahoma City. Janiece became the Hebrew School Director of Temple B’nai Israel in 2002 and retired in May 2017. While at Temple B’nai Israel, Janiece worked as the B’nai Mitzvah Tutor.

Janiece takes the commandment l’dor vador- from generation to generation seriously. Her philosophy is to make sure every student will be competent and confident not only for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony but throughout their lives as Jewish adults. Janiece builds rapport with the students and their families and the students always feel comfortable working with her

She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Oklahoma State University. She has a great love of the outdoors and is an avid birdwatcher.

Janiece works over Zoom and Facetime.

Janiece saw that both of my kids made it through their Bar/Bat Mitzvah's with ease. This was easier said than done as I have two kids with VERY different learning styles and VERY different levels of interest and motivation. I could go on about this, but I bet you understand. Janiece saved the day.-
She is patient, understanding, knowledgeable and kind. She understands that there are different ways to learn. She enjoys the kids. She is a keeper!- Jennifer Ephraim
We first met Janiece approximately four years ago when we relocated to Oklahoma City. Janiece played an integral role in our children's adjustment to Jewish life and learning in OKC. Janiece worked with our son Jonah for his bar mitzvah preparation. It would not be an understatement for me to say he loved working with Janiece. Her positive reinforcement and can do attitude made the process seamless. It was such a positive experience our son asked Janiece to sit on the bimah with him Shabbat morning. The hardest part of writing this letter is knowing that Janiece will not be at the Hebrew school teaching our other children.- Karen Craine
Janiece is friendly, approachable, thoughtful and kind. She’s aware of the standard necessary for a child to succeed and addresses each child’s strengths and weaknesses appropriately. She gave my two children and me ample, easy to understand feedback. I also know Janiece and work with her in my capacity as religious school committee chair. Janiece is friendly, approachable, well organized and well aware of the wants and needs of a good Hebrew program.- Lawrence Heyman
