We,
individually and together as a community,
have experienced the spiritual potential
of the wilderness. We understand that
Jewish ritual becomes accessible,
meaningful and relevant when it is
practiced in awe of the outdoors.
Now,
in this ongoing series based on Rabbi
Korngold’s best selling book,
we will explore the Jewish texts behind
our experiences. We will study the
scriptural basis for what we know
intuitively and feel experientially.
Each
month we will take in a depth look
at one chapter of the book, beginning
with the foreword. We will hear the
story behind the story, discuss our
reactions, and study the textual basis
for the chapter.
We
ask that each participant review the
chapter before the session and on
occasion, read some supplementary
material before the session. It is
our hope that after the class, the
conversation will continue on and
off line as participants share thoughts
related to the topic and explore related
sources such as movies and articles.
Participants
are invited to drop in for single
classes, however we prefer an ongoing
commitment to the entire class so
that the conversations can build upon
each other and a community of learning
can develop.
