An Urban
Shabbat Hike:

With its curving walkways and abundant hedges, Central Park was designed to transport visitors into the heart of nature with a simple stroll through the park. We will use this urban oasis to surround ourselves with God's creation and rejuvenate our souls.

After brief introductions, we will hike at a moderate pace. As we hike up the trail, we will have time to chat and get to know each other. On Adventure Rabbi hikes you will discover a group of fascinating and inspirational people, eager to meet new people and explore their Judaism in unique ways.

Join us for an adventure in Central Park - Jewish urban hiking with Shabbat Service

Occasionally during the hike, we will take a break to catch our breath and admire the gardens. Rabbi Korngold will offer readings from Jewish text and discuss the spiritual opportunities that abound in nature.

Halfway through the hike, we will pause for a half-hour service. The service will be filled with familiar prayers and songs, accompanied by nature readings from Jewish tradition.

Toward the end of the service, we take a few moments of quiet introspection. It is a chance for each of us to contemplate the sounds, smells and sights that s around us.

After a bit of chocolate, we'll head back out of the park and head to a nearby restaurant or bar for something to eat and drink.

In case of rain, please check our website

In order to serve God, one needs access to the
enjoyment of the beauties of nature,

Such as the contemplation of flower-decorated
meadows, majestic mountains, flowing rivers….

For all these are essential to the spiritual
development of even the holiest of people.
