Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How much does this cost? A. It's free. Not much in life is free, but our system is free to join and use. We ask people who love the site to make an online donation, or sponsor a group as an advertiser.
Q. Are you a singles group? A. No, we're not a singles dating group, although there are many people who have met through Adventure Rabbi (some of which have gotten married). And conveniently, the rabbis on the Adventure Rabbi team can perform the wedding ceremony, and then (no pressure) a baby naming ceremony.
Q. Who comes to Adventure Rabbi events? A. About 50% of the group are couples, and the community ranges in age from 20-75+. Many of the people in the Adventure Rabbi community have met their best and closest friends through our events.
Q. Can I see some photos of some of the past events, without signing up? A. We're not scary people. Yes, click here to see our Adventure Rabbi photo gallery of recent events.
Q. Why should I sign up for this online community? A. If you are Jewish, and looking for a way to connect with other like-minded Jewish people to get together for skiing, hiking, biking, book discussions or other events (Even indoor ones!), this is the site for you. Our Adventure Rabbi Online Community allows you to meet new Jewish people, stay in touch with friends, swap stuff on the classifieds message board, join a variety of interest groups and tons more. Best of all... it's FREE!

Q. Why did you build this site? A. We found that groups were starting to form in between official Adventure Rabbi events, and we wanted to give the community the tools and technology to connect with each other.
Q. Why do you want my cell phone number? A. One of the advanced features our system offers is the ability to connect with people when you're not sitting in front of your computer. You don't need to put your cell phone into your profile, but if you do, you can receive text (SMS) messages from groups or events that you have RSVP'd for. It's really powerful. Imagine that half your group of friends have arrived at the restaurant, but it's completely booked. With the text messaging system, you can send a text message out to everyone letting them know you're at another place, right around the corner.
Q. I'm not very techical. Is the system hard to use for novice users? A. It's pretty easy. We've designed the system to have a lot of functionality, but still be pretty easy to use. Our advice: sign up, invite a few friends, and join a couple of groups. Find out about events that interest you and connect with other people.
Q. I'm worried that I'm going to get too many emails or text messages through the system. A. You can login to the system and choose which lists and events you want to receive emails and text messages from, just by checking a box on the site.
Q. I'm interested in carpooling to events. What's the best way to do this? A. For each event, there is an option when your RSVP that allows you to say that you are interested in carpooling. You can email an individual member, or you can send a message to the group letting people know that you need a ride or are willing to carpool. Please take common sense precautions, however, and make sure that you know the person you are accepting a ride from. We are an online system, and we can't vouch for everyone who is on the site.
Q. Someone keeps contacting me, and I'm not sure how to make this person stop. A. You can login to the system and block the person, or you can report abuse by visiting this page.
Q. Why is a photo important? A. If you add a photo to the site, you'll be able to connect a name to a face, and people will be able to recognize you by name when you sign up. When you RSVP for an event, send an email to a group or event, or post a classified ad, your photo is displayed to make your comments more personalized. Don't have a digital photo? Ask someone to take one with their camera at the next event you go to.
Q. Can I use the system to find someone who was at past event? A. Yes. The system is designed to help facilitate online social networking. I'm sure something like this has happened to you. You've been saying hello to the same person for about six months, but still don't know their name. You see them at the grocery store, or out walking around town, but it's been too long to say, "I'm soooo sorry, but I really don't have a clue what your name is." The way the system works, you can read about the person, and find out what events they've RSVP'd to attend.
Q. Can I use the system if I'm not Jewish? A. The system is mainly designed for Jewish people to connect with each other. But if you aren't Jewish, you are still welcome, but you may find that the site may not be as useful as some of the other non-Jewish social networking sites.
Q. I'm Reform / Orthodox / Conservative / Renewal / Just like to eat bagels. Is this system for me? A. Yes. Find a group that meets your needs. Or start your own.
