Elaine is known for her exuberance and ability to connect with her students.
Elaine Barenblat, our Director of Educator, is the in-house Bar and Bat Mitzvah Hebrew Tutor for the Adventure Judaism. She teaches students both in person and online, in small groups or privately.
When Elaine is tutoring a student, you can be confident that, if the student does his or her homework, the Hebrew prayers and Torah portion will be mastered in time for the ceremony.
In August 2014, Elaine was hired as our first full-time Adventure Educator, serving our base In Boulder, CO and our ever-growing Distance Learning community. She was selected after an intensive search, which reached candidates throughout the world. She was chosen based on her experience, enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to strengthen our team of adventure professionals.
Elaine is a native of San Antonio, Texas, but has always had her heart in Colorado’s mountains. She received her Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of North Texas with a focus in early childhood and special education. After graduation, she worked as an Education Fellow at the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life in Jackson, Mississippi where she worked with Jewish communities throughout 13 Southern states.
Elaine uses a mixture of auditory, visual and kinesthetic technique in her Hebrew tutoring. As we all know, the gymnast, the artist, and the intellect learn differently and thus need different teaching styles. When she works with the gymnast, you may find shaping dough into letters. For the artist, she brings out the paints and markers. For the intellect, Elaine is more academic and philosophical in her approach.
