Individual Bar & Bat Mitzvah

Contract For Bar & Bat Mitzvah Services:

This form will serve as a contractual agreement for rabbinical services and enrollment in our Bar and Bat Mitzvah program.

The following are included:
1. Ten sessions with the Educator or Rabbi
2. One hour ceremony planning session with the officiant via GoToMeeting, Skype, Facetime, phone or in-person.
3. 1.5 hours ceremony rehearsal with officiant
3. Private Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony
4. Use of our Torah (please note: when out of Boulder, we use a one-third-size, paper, backpacking Torah)
5. Use of the Adventure Rabbi prayerbooks. (We own 100 copies)
6. Membership for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah candidate to the Adventure Judaism Congregation during the course.

You will be responsible for the following expenses:
1. Program fee
2. All fees associated with site rental if applicable
3. Hebrew tutoring fees (different than coaching, which is included)
4. (optional) personalized service booklet
5. (optional) personalized kippot
6. (optional) tallitot

B’nai Mitzvah Coaching (Included):
(Please note, Rabbi Evon’s curriculum is somewhat different from this.)

1. Introduction to the program
2. Meaning of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah
3. How can Judaism help me make good choices as a teenager?
4. Why is Judaism relevant and meaningful to me, a 12-year only in the 21st century?
5. Check-in of progress on prayers and Torah portion
6. Extensive studies of Jewish Values and how they relate to you as a teenager. Includes topics such as: Peace in the Home, Taking Care of Animals, Care for the Earth, Respect for Parents and more.
7. Development and presentation of D’var Shana (speech about the year experience)
8. Choice of Tikkun Olam project and progress with the project
9. Development and presentation of Tikkun Olam speech
10. Discuss Shabbat Practice and log
11. Development and presentation of Shabbat speech.

Please Read This:

Our schedules are intricate and full, making it difficult for us to schedule make-up sessions. Therefore, it is important that the student arrive on time and prepared for their sessions.
If you must reschedule, we will do their best to accommodate you. However, in the following cases, a $50 fee will be charged for the first time and $125 will be charged any additional incident. The card used for this contract will be charged.

– Canceling a session with less than 4 hours notice
– Not showing up at a session
– Arriving at a session unprepared so that a make-up session must be scheduled

Meeting with Officiant (Included):
The month before the Bar or Bat Mitzvah, please schedule two meetings the officiant, which may or may not be the same as the Coach. During these meetings, we will plan and rehearse the service. You will have the opportunity to read all your prayers, Torah, and speeches.

Parents will want to be part of these meetings. This will be an opportunity for your family to personalize the service by choosing friends and family to lead readings, read prayers, present the tallis and many other honors.

Community (Student Membership Included):
We invite and encourage your family to participate in the many events run by the Adventure Judaism. This will create an opportunity for your family to get to know Rabbi Korngold, as well as other families involved in our Bar and Bat Mitzvah program. To this end, we have included a student Adventure Judaism membership with your enrollment. The membership is in effect for the 10 months of study. You can learn about our adventures, such as Passover in Moab, Utah and Rosh Hashanah in Colorado, and Yom Kippur in Boulder, Colorado at www.AdventureRabbi.org.

Discounts & Refunds:
-Monthly Payment Plan: Your initial payment will include a one-time service fee of $100, and a $500 deposit. The remainder will be divided into 10 monthly payments, which are charged automatically and are non-refundable.
– Payment in Full: Save $100 by paying in full today. 50% of the full payment will be non-refundable. Four months before the event, the entire amount becomes non-refundable.

Travel Expenses:
-Travel Expenses generally include: Tolls to and from airport (approx. $24), airport parking (approx. $23 per day), or Lyft to and from airport (approx $80/each way), air travel (economy plus seating), business or resort class hotel, ground transportation (i.e. shuttle, rental car, taxi) and meals.

Rabbi Evon Yakar:
S. Lake Tahoe, California ($5,000)
Up to 3-hr drive from South Lake Tahoe ($5,250)
3-5 hr drive from South Lake Tahoe ($5,750 + expenses)
Requiring a Flight from South Lake Tahoe ($6,500 + expenses)
